The Lost & Found Chronicles
If you've ever visited MiniTown, there's a pretty good chance you left with a tired kid, a full camera roll, and maybe... without one of your belongings. 😅
Our Lost & Found has seen it all. Some items are completely expected (hello, water bottles and socks 👋), while others leave us scratching our heads for months.
Here are a few of our favorite stories...
🚗 The Mystery of the Audi Key
Not long after we opened MiniTown, a family hosted a birthday party and somehow left behind an Audi key.
No big deal, right? Surely they'd be back in a day or two.
Well...
That key has been sitting safely in our Lost & Found for over a year.
No phone call.
No email.
No "Hey, did anyone happen to find my Audi key?"
To this day, we still wonder...
How do you not notice you're missing your car key for over a year?
Maybe it was a spare key.
Maybe they bought another Audi. 😂
Or maybe they have absolutely no idea where they left it.
So... if you're reading this and you own an Audi...
Your key is still here. We're rooting for your reunion.
🐭 The Mickey Key That Wasn't
One day, a customer lost a car key with a Mickey Mouse keychain.
It disappeared into the famous MiniTown Ball Pit of Mystery™.
We searched.
The family searched.
Nothing.
Eventually, they had to call a locksmith and have a brand-new key made just so they could get home.
A while later...
Guess what we found?
A car key...
With a Mickey Mouse keychain!
We were so excited.
We immediately called the customer.
"Good news! We found your key!"
He rushed over...
Looked at it...
And said:
"That's... not my key."
🤣🤣🤣
Turns out someone else had also lost a Mickey keychain.
His original key was never found.
The mystery lives on.
🔑 "I Drove Home Without My Main Key..."
Another customer called asking if we'd found her car key.
Naturally, our first question was...
"...Wait... how did you get home?"
She laughed and explained that she carries both her main key and her spare key in her purse.
She accidentally left her everyday key at MiniTown...
...and unknowingly drove home using the spare.
Honestly...
That's probably the most prepared person we've ever met.
🧦 The Usual Suspects
Some things get left behind almost every day.
Sweatshirts
Water bottles
Socks
Glasses
These don't surprise us anymore.
They're practically roommates in our Lost & Found.
🎒 The Bags That Go on Vacation
Every so often, someone leaves behind...
A purse
A backpack
A diaper bag
Sometimes we can identify the owner and reach out.
Sometimes the family comes back later that day.
And sometimes...
Those bags sit patiently for weeks waiting for their owner to remember where they disappeared.
👟 The Great Shoe Mystery
This one absolutely fascinates us.
The number of children's shoes left behind at MiniTown is unbelievable.
Most families come back for them.
But not all.
During the winter, we practically had a snow boot collection.
And here's the question we still can't answer...
How does a child leave wearing only socks... in the middle of winter... and nobody notices? 😂
Summer?
Okay.
Maybe they walked to the car in socks.
But January?
In Connecticut?
We're still trying to solve that one.
💳 The Cards Nobody Misses
Credit cards show up more often than you'd think.
Whenever we can, we look up the customer's information in our system and give them a call or send a text.
Sometimes they come pick it up.
Sometimes...
They never do.
Occasionally the card belongs to one person, but the MiniTown account belongs to someone else, so we're never able to find the owner.
If your credit card has ever spent a few lonely days at MiniTown...
Know that we tried.
🚙 The Car Seat Story
And now...
Our personal favorite.
A family visited MiniTown on a Friday.
They brought their child in a car seat.
Played.
Had fun.
Left.
Without...
The car seat.
😂😂😂
The car seat stayed at MiniTown all weekend.
The family didn't realize it until they had already driven to another store after leaving us.
By the time they came back, MiniTown was closed.
They actually had to call a friend to come pick them up with another car seat because theirs was locked inside MiniTown for the weekend.
They came back Monday morning to reclaim it.
Definitely one of the most unforgettable Lost & Found stories we've ever had.

Life with kids is busy.
You're carrying snacks, jackets, water bottles, diaper bags, birthday gifts, coffee...
Sometimes things get left behind.
It happens!
And if it happens at MiniTown, we'll always do our best to help reunite you with your missing item.
(Especially if it's an Audi key that's been waiting over a year. 😉)
